Featured Stock N° 001

We are now carrying the latest offering from Kinfolk magazine. Here's what they have to say about Volume 5: "This autumn issue explores how refining our senses - taste, sight, sound, touch, and smell - enriches the experiences we have with each other. The pages also delve into practical ideas and recipes for entertaining as the leaves begin to fall: herb drying at home, fall camping, meals to take surfing and new seasonal traditions. Over 50 artists contribute personal essays, photographs, paintings, and films."

Also on our shelves are personalized antique silver spoons from The Loving Spoon. They offer a beautiful option for gifts with a more personal touch for most occasions. And if the messages on the spoons we are stocking fall short of what you want to communicate, don't fret just contact their Vancouver based designer Maya via her website with your request. www.thelovingspoon.net

Event Coverage: Thanksgiving Dinner 2012

Thanksgiving dinner at Le Marché St. George was an impeccable success. We can tribute a vast amount of it to our dearest friends and family whom joined us on this beautiful occasion. Their company and diverse dishes perpetuated a certain je ne sais quoi to the evening that's become all to familiar with events at Marché. Janaki's love for the holiday was apparent in every detail from the meal planning to the table setting. I couldn't be more thankful or blessed to have been there sharing pieces of myself with an incredible selection of genuine people. Thank you for celebrating with us. See you next year!

Thanksgiving Dinner

Le Marché St. George is currently fully-stocked with all the most diserable organic ingredients needed to prepare a thanksgiving dinner that your friends, family and loved ones will cherish. Some incredible potatoes, sqaush, pumpkins, parsnips, brussels sprouts, cranberries, pears and more have been brought in to celebrate the occasion. Pie shells will be available, which means you can bake your own pie without having to suffer making the pie tart yourself. Janaki has also assembled some of the most lovely fall inspired bouquets for your table setting and decorative needs. We hope to see you drop by to pick up these goodies while supplies last!

Just as a reminder we will be closing early on Sunday September 7 (5 pm) and closed all day on Monday September 8th.

Field Trip: Tyler & Lucinda's Wedding

In the first days of September, Tyler and Lucinda (one of our most esteemed suppliers, who we've also had an event with, which you can read about here) were wed on the Sunshine Coast at the sublime Rockwater Secret Cove Resort. The occasion was beautiful as it was inspirational (and equally delicious thanks to Chef Andrea Carlson). Congratulations to the new bride and groom from everyone at Le Marché St. George!!!

Above are a handful of images I was able to snap during their gorgeous celebration.

Pure Organic Vanilla Extract

One of the most prized flavours of the culinary world is getting some well-deserved appreciation in our shop; Pemberton Distillery's Pure Organic Vanilla Extract is handcrafted in small batches, incorporates certified organic vanilla beans cultivated in Costa Rica, and contains no additives. We are honoured and excited by the addition of their exceptional product to our shelves. It is simply the best vanilla extract we have ever had.

Neighbourhood Goods N° 001

In the spirit of buying local and community-building, we asked our wonderful neighbours with trees to kindly bring our shop any surplus fruit that they don't know what to do with. We love this because it helps the people around us get involved, whilst offering our guests a chance to buy some delicious and uniquely local goods at a competitive rate. So far we have received batches of plums (pictured above), Japanese plums, figs, and Asian pears (pictured above). The plums came in a few weeks ago and and sold quickly. The photo of the pears, on the other hand, is from last year, around late September.

If you would like to be one of the first to find out about our new products, you can sign up for our e-mail newsletter, or follow Le Marché on Facebook and Twitter.

In creating The Artisan Collection, I journeyed thousands of kilometres across the length and breadth of BC’s grape-growing regions meeting growers, tasting grapes and hand-selecting the best to be used in creating the wines. Each wine lists the origin vineyard on the label, grounding and connecting each to its terroirs. I am in the midst of blending my 2011 vintage wines and I will have some barrels sample of my new blends to preview informally as well, including a sneak preview of my new Syrah. There are always surprises, extra value and special treats at my events, so be prepared for some spontaneity!

This outstanding four course menu has been specially created for this banquet and will feature superb local ingredients, expertly and creatively prepared by Chef Shaun, who some folks may remember from our outstanding “Wine Tasting at the Carter Estate” earlier this summer.

I will be on hand for the dinner to present the wines and enjoy your company. You don’t have to wear white, but dressing up for these events is always fun.

I hope to see you there!
