This weekend (December 17-18) will be your last chance to visit our winter pop up shop. If you haven't come by, I suggest you do because Janaki's space is incredible and the offering make for perfect holiday gifts. Christmas Trees

Me: Klee, do you have a suggestion of how I can shoot these trees?
Klee: Yeah! we should shoot me sitting in front of the trees on Lola's rocking moose!
Me: I'm Game.
Klee: Let me run inside and get my winter coat.

I love when little collaborative ideas like this happen, especially when they're seasonal. This year at Le Marché St. George we are stocking Christmas trees from Columbia Valley Tree Farm. They are absolutely picturesque specimens. In my life I have no personally encountered a more perfect tree than the ones currently available at our shop. Columbia Valley Tree Farm take great pride in their trees and their sustainability. Their potted live trees, for example, can be replanted for a long term ecological benefit. They company cares about what they do and their impact on the environment, which is why we love them; that is, apart from being stunning.

Neighbourhood Style: Zafder

Our friend, Zafder, runs Okanagan Fair Flowers located in the Similkameen valley (South Okanagan) specializing in wild foliage. Zafder often bring our shop apples on branches, Queen Anne's lace harvested from the roadside, seeds and pod. During the holiday season, he is also known for homemade Christmas trees made out of driftwood and fallen branches he supplies to Southlands Nursery. Zafder came to our shop unexpectedly one day with praises of our slightly disheveled flower arrangements and since has dropped off numerous unique gifts. We love him for what he does and his personal style which more than often consists of coveralls, plaid shirts and patterned handkerchief.

Lux Vivens - Dead Sea Bath Salts

Just in time for the holiday season, various dead sea bath salts and massage candles by Lux Vivens have arrived at our shop. Based out of Victoria, British Columbia, Stacey has established a fine and natural product line that will be a hit with your friends and loved ones. Pictured above are Lux Vivens' Goddess (right & bottom) and Salvation (left) Dead Sea Salt, retailing at $29.95. From first hand experience, I can vouch that they both smell pleasantly fragrant and are aesthetically luxurious.

Had A Glass App Launch Party (Coverage)

Today Marché St. George held James Nevison's Had A Glass App launch party. It was a success to say the least. James being from the neighborhood attracted many of our friends ultimately making for a truly intimate spectacle. The room was filled with smiles and cheerful banter, much of which can be attributed to James' delicious wine selection. Each wine he served was very good. It enticed me to buy the app before I left the event. He's a really great guy, who is very passionate about his field; it's hard not to support the work of a person like him, especially at an affordable $2.99. I explored the app on the way home and was pleasantly surprised to find many a hip hop reference, check it's Bubblies section. You can purchase and learn more about the Had A Glass App on their website (www.halfaglass.com) - cheers!

Had A Glass App Launch Party

We are absolutely delighted to collaborate with our friend and neighbour James Nevison, a famed wine critic for the Vancouver Province. He is the co-founder of a wonderful wine app having a launch party this Saturday December 3rd from 1-3pm at Le Marché. The app we are told "gives you the wine goods. In a veritable sea of vinous choice, Had a Glass points you in the right direction and makes sure you surface with a good bottle. And it won’t cost you big money: each of the 100 wines checks in at under $20." There will be a wine tasting, an opportunity to meet the people behind the app, as well as a chance to see and purchase the limited pocket size print edition of "Had A Glass". Don't miss out! Le Marché St. George's First Birthday

On Saturday November 26th from 9am to 6pm, Le Marché St. George will be celebrating its first year in business, and we are inviting everyone to come celebrate this monumental occasion with us. For the first time, all of our merchandise will be 20% off; there will be complementary mulled wine and apple cider flowing throughout the day, and we have invited many of our wonderful suppliers to join us, to allow you to meet and learn more about the people behind the products we carry, while sampling their delicious offerings (D-Original Sausages, DOHM Cheese, Farmhouse Cheese, and Artisan Italian Baked Goods by Rita). Marché will also be transforming our living space into a winter pop-up shop featuring our recently posted wool collection, linens and Janaki's ceramics. This is our way of saying thank you to our neighbours, customers, friends and loved ones who have made Marché a success over the past year. We're looking forward to seeing you all. And, as always, Marché has a few things hidden up their sleeves, you won't want to miss out!
