Ficus Carica

Sometimes I've wondered what would kind of plant I would be if I were to be a plant or tree. I am pretty sure I'd be a fig tree or an olive tree. As if I would actually get to choose.
Our neighbourhood has plenty of fig trees around. It seems anyone who arrived to the area from somewhere else planted fig, as a reminder of their home country. I have spent the past few days, stewing, poaching, caramelizing, canning, drying and eating them by the handful.
Above is the special in the shop this week. Caramelized figs with thyme, orange, brie and honey on buckwheat. Happy summer days!
